Vowles reported Williams` progress despite the championship setback. Williams boss James Vowles says the team`s ninth place finish in the 2024 Constructors` Championship doesn`t reflect reality.
Here`s the point: there are a lot of positive things the world doesn`t see. I can walk through the building and see the excellent work, the winning legacy that is now part of our team. I see changes in infrastructure, in culture, in human terms, even in commercial matters - it`s just a different world.
I`ve always said we have a long road ahead in 2023, 2024, 2025, it`s a big process and the results mentioned by tip for fix football picks on the track won`t always reflect the really big changes that are happening behind the scenes.
Do I think ninth place reflects our achievements? No. We have achieved really great technological success, and there are good developments for the future. That`s what I`m focused on.
Am I disappointed with my ninth place finish? Yes, of course - I still want to get the most out of race weekends, and this year [2024] it didn`t work out. We have been hit hard by significant resource depletion. It hit hard that we changed technologies and therefore produced a car that exceeded the minimum weight - we simply could not show the world what we were capable of.
Strange races also happened. People saw that Williams could almost always get into the third segment of qualifying, but we did not show the result. This inevitably leads to disappointment, but the positive things happening behind the scenes outweigh it. The world will see this only through progress, which will increase in 2025, 2026, 2027.
I`ll remember we were second in Brazilian qualifying before Alex [Albon`s] accident. We were potentially in the third segment in Las Vegas with Franco [Colapinto] until he had his accident. I hate to constantly refer to incidents, but this is how the year turned out.
We have to remember that the tempo is there, but we didn`t implement it that well. And it`s about the team. I never place responsibility on one person. From a fundamental point of view, the team didn`t put it all together, we didn`t all do it together.
That`s the secret. We need to improve in everything. Reliability, design decisions, performances, pilots, a holistic strategy are important - in all these aspects we need to move forward at the right speed, " the manager said.
